I don't think anyone will ever forget this campaign. Now that the results are in, let's all pull together and hope that Donald will turn out to be a great president for the U.S. Maybe he will leave as good a legacy as the original 'Teddy' (Roosevelt). One day we may even get a picture of him cuddling Hillary.

In November 1902  president Theodore Roosevelt was invited on a bear hunting trip in  Mississippi.  There were several hunters competing and most had already killed an animal.

A suite of Roosevelt's attendants cornered and clubbed a bear and tied it to a willow tree after a long exhausting chase with hounds. They called Roosevelt to the site and suggested that he shoot it. He refused, deeming this unsportsmanslike .

It became the subject of a political cartoon in the Washington Post. Maurice Mitchom saw the drawings and was inspired to create a  cuddly toy with a likeness to a bear cub and put it in his shop window with a sign "Teddy's Bear". The toys were an immediate success and the rest is history.

Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States.

He was the youngest ever U.S president in history.

He came to be president by default following the assassination of William  McKinley on 14 September 1901.

He was subsequently elected for a second term and held the  office until 4 March 1909.

His face is carved into Mount Rushmore alongside those of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.
